I love granola. Mixing it with home made nut milk, or organic goat yogurt, adding some lovely superfoods and fruit – done! A very healthy breakfast. If you make it yourself, that is. Please read the labels before you buy granola at your local grocery store. Almost every brand of granola is full of sugar. So, let’s make our own! It’s even better because now, you decide your favorite ingredients and flavors.. coconut & cacao or berry & honey? The combinations are endless. Add goji berries, raw cacao, coconut flakes, beepollen, figs, you name it. The only thing you need is an oven to toast the oats. If you like it raw, just skip the toasting (it will be more like muesli). The recipe for this lovely home made superfoods granola (but please feel free to add, experiment or leave out):
- Oats (as much as you think you need, I used 100 gr)
- 4 tbs sesame seeds
- 2 tbs mixed nuts
- 2 tbs dried goji berries
- 1 tbs dried cranberries
- 4 tbs mulberries
- 8 small dried figs
- 3 tbs hemp seeds
- 2 tbs beepollen
- 1 tbs chia seeds
- 1 tbs maca root powder
- 1/2 ts vanilla extract/powder
- 1 ts cinnamon powder
- 1 tbs manuka honey
Heat the oven to 180 degrees. Drizzle the manuka honey and the cinnamon on top of the oats and sesame seeds, toast them in about 10 minutes but keep an eye on them, they should not get burned! Here’s how mine looked before and after:
After you toasted the oats, let them rest for about an hour and mix all the ingredients together in your favorite jar. Really, that’s it. It might be – ok it IS more expensive then the granola you buy at your local store, but I think it’s so much tastier and so super healthy that you actually need less. Just add your favorite fresh fruits and home made (or sugar free) nut, oat or rice milk and you’re good to go. Enjoy and like I said, experiment!
Ga ik zeker proberen Rosalie, wat een ontzettend leuke dingen doe je!
